This is the English edition of “Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, Vol.1” by Hiroshi Shiibashi, originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The series is known in Japan as “Nurarihyon no Mago”, a supernatural action manga centered on yokai and the mysterious world they inhabit.

The story follows Rikuo Nura, a boy who lives between two worlds. By day he appears to be an ordinary middle school student, but by night his yokai blood awakens. Rikuo is actually the grandson of Nurarihyon, the supreme commander of the powerful Nura clan. As the heir to this clan of demons, he is destined to one day lead the legendary “Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.”

Growing up in a household surrounded by yokai, Rikuo has always considered them part of his normal life. However, the outside world views yokai as frightening monsters. When his grandfather announces him as the future leader of the clan, Rikuo finds himself torn between his human heart and his responsibilities as a yokai leader.

The series blends traditional Japanese folklore with dynamic action scenes and strong character development. Themes of identity, loyalty, and leadership run throughout the story as Rikuo gradually accepts his role in the supernatural world.
